Gamma-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) is a water-soluble cyclic α-1,4-glucan linked oligosaccharide consisting of eight α-(1,4)-linked glucopyranose subunits that is widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. In drug delivery, γ-CD can be used as a complexing agent because it forms an inclusion complex with a drug molecule.
